Intercontinental Bank To Donate 5,000 ITNs to Local Nigerian Government
Intercontinental Bank ahead of World Malaria Day later this month has announced that it will donate 5,000 long-lasting insecticide-treated nets to Nigeria's Lagos state government as part of its Malaria Prevention Scheme, the Nigerian Tribune reports. The project is part of the bank's Corporate Social Responsibility program. It aims to partner with the Nigerian government and the Roll Back Malaria Partnership to fight the spread of the disease by ensuring that 70% of the population at highest risk of malaria uses ITNs by 2015.Intercontinental Bank is partnering with the Cargo Suite Line Company to produce and distribute locally manufactured ITNs to Nigeria's 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Erastus Akingbola, the company's chief executive, said that the ITNs will be distributed to local governments, adding that the distribution effort is in line with the bank's Corporate Social Responsibility program (Nigerian Tribune, 4/4).
