This post has been updated to reflect an extended deadline to sign up for health insurance coverage through the exchanges.
December 17th at 11:59 p.m. PST is the last chance to sign up for Obamacare health insurance coverage that starts January 1 through the federal exchange. Open enrollment for the plans continues through the end of January, however.
KHN’s Julie Rovner joins Here & Now’s Jeremy Hobson to explain the deadline, what the penalty is for not having health insurance in 2016 and also answers other questions about coverage.
