U.S. News & World Report Profiles ‘Government AIDS Expert’ NIAID Director Anthony Fauci

The Jan. 28 issue of U.S. News & World Report profiles the "government's AIDS expert," NIAID Director Anthony Fauci, whose "name is at the top of most lists" to be offered the vacant job of NIH director. Calling him "America's straight-talking doctor," U.S. News says that Fauci is the government's "point man" on HIV/AIDS, "not only in research ... but in dealing with the terrified, angry people [HIV] infected." Fauci said, "What I learned from HIV/AIDS was that from the beginning you gotta level with people, you gotta tell them what you don't know, and you've got to explain risks in a way that is realistic without making someone feel better than they should."
