Global Fund Pledges $8M to Kenya for TB Control
The Global Fund To Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has pledged about $8 million to support Kenya's tuberculosis control program over the next two years, the Nation reports. The funds will go toward addressing multi-drug resistant TB through the Ministry of Health. The agreement, which was signed by Finance Minister Amos Kimunya and Global Fund representative Charles Appleton, also will direct funds toward an awareness campaign on effective responses to TB and HIV (Nzioka, Nation, 7/1).
