ABC News Features Health Policy Panel Discussion as Part of Series on Health Care in Presidential Election
ABC's "World News" on Monday included the first in a series of reports on health care in the 2008 presidential election. The segment included a discussion with Drew Altman, president and CEO of the Kaiser Family Foundation; Karen Davis, president of the Commonwealth Fund; and Gail Wilensky, a senior fellow at Project HOPE.
The panelists discussed whether universal health care is attainable; the role of government in achieving universal coverage; funding for health coverage and whether health care reform would require higher taxes; rising health care costs and the impact on the middle class; and how Republicans and Democrats are approaching health care reform.
On Tuesday, "World News" will include a report on the differences between Republican and Democratic candidates' approaches to health care (Gibson, "World News," ABC, 12/10).
