Bush ‘Vulnerable’ on Health Care with 52% Approval Rating, New Poll Finds
While nearly nine out of 10 Americans approve of the way President Bush is handling the war on terrorism, the president is "vulnerable" on health care issues, according to a USA Today/CNN/Gallup poll released today. USA Today reports that 52% of 1,011 adults polled between March 22 and 24 approved of the way Bush is handling health care policy, a "traditional Democratic strength." Forty-nine percent of those polled approved of the way Bush is handling abortion, although USA Today notes his approval rating on abortion is "slightly higher" than it was last year. USA Today reports that Democrats will seek to gain an advantage in the upcoming elections by supporting a Medicare prescription drug benefit that is "more comprehensive" than the plan offered by Bush (Benedetto/Mc`Quillan, USA Today, 3/29).
