‘No Glove, No Love’ AIDS Awareness Campaign Begins in Uganda
The Africans Unite Against AIDS Globally campaign kicked off its "no glove, no love" AIDS awareness campaign in Uganda on Thursday, Reuters reports. The campaign, which will initially target Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia, will encourage condom use and AIDS awareness through public meetings and concerts. In addition to public awareness efforts, the initiative also plans to construct HIV testing and counseling centers in African nations. "This campaign is about behavioral change," AUAAG chair Tiahmo Rauf said. He added that each concert aims to attract an audience of 250,000 teenagers. Although the campaign will initially be centered in the four countries, organizers hope to expand the effort to other parts of Africa. "This is going to be the biggest movement to raise awareness about the epidemic," Rauf said (Reuters, 4/18).
