Nevada Attorney General Files Lawsuit Alleging 16 Drug Makers Inflated Their Prices
Nevada has filed a lawsuit against 16 drug makers and biotechnology companies, including GlaxoSmithKline and Amgen Inc., alleging that the companies "inflated" prices of their medicines, the Bloomberg News/Los Angeles Times reports. Nevada Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa (D) filed civil lawsuits in January and March of this year charging the companies with consumer fraud and racketeering for having "improperly high" wholesale prices for their products. State and federal health care programs use the average wholesale price to determine reimbursement rates (Bloomberg News/Los Angeles Times, 5/15).
