Michigan County Mental Health Agency Set To Approve New Provider Contracts
The Detroit-Wayne County Community Mental Health Agency on July 12 voted to request contract proposals from three companies to provide community-based mental health services for Medicaid beneficiaries, the Detroit Free Press reports (Warikoo, Detroit Free Press, 7/13). In June, Michigan officials notified the agency that it must increase its provider networks for its contract with the state to be approved. The state contracts with local Community Mental Health Service Programs to administer community-based services for Medicaid beneficiaries. The contracts last for two years, and the state has been reviewing proposals from local agencies to continue their contracts (Kaiser Daily Health Policy Report, 7/10). The Free Press reports that the Detroit-Wayne agency on July 17 likely will approve contract bids from providers Gateway, Comprehensive Behavioral Health Services and Carelink. If the bids are approved by the agency and the state, beneficiaries could seek care from any of the providers (Detroit Free Press, 7/13).
