Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Names New President and CEO
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has named Philadelphia geriatric physician Risa Lavizzo-Mourey as its new president and CEO, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Lavizzo-Mourey will succeed current President and CEO Dr. Steven Schroeder when he retires in December. Lavizzo-Mourey joined the foundation last year as senior vice president and director of its health care group. Previously, she has been an associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where she served as director at the Institute on Aging and chief of the school's division of geriatric medicine. From 1992 to 1994, she worked on health care issues for the Clinton administration. Lavizzo-Mourey graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1979 and holds a master's in business administration from the Wharton School. She said that the foundation's goals, including improving access to health care and promoting healthy lifestyles, "resonate" with her. Lavizzo-Mourey added that it is "too early" to outline her priorities for the foundation (Horn, Philadelphia Inquirer, 7/26).
