- "The Current State of Retiree Health Benefits: Findings for the Kaiser/Hewitt 2002 Retiree Health Survey," Kaiser Family Foundation and Hewitt Associates: Most large employers will continue providing health care coverage for retirees over the next three years, but many retirees will see an increase in costs, and 20% of employers say that they are very or somewhat likely to eliminate health benefits for future retirees, according to a survey from the Kaiser Family Foundation and Hewitt Associates. The survey found that 95% of large employers that now offer retiree health coverage plan to continue offering coverage for current retirees over the next three years, but 22% said they are likely to eliminate coverage for future retirees in the next three years ("The Current State of Retiree Health Benefits: Findings for the Kaiser/Hewitt 2002 Retiree Health Survey," December 2002).
