Bono, Frist, Graham, Holbrooke Airlift Christmas Gifts to HIV-Positive African Children
Irish rock star Bono, Sen. Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) and Richard Holbrooke, president of Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS and former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, yesterday joined evangelist Franklin Graham in airlifting Christmas gifts to HIV-positive children in Africa, the Associated Press reports. A cargo plane set to depart from Kennedy Airport in New York City held 83,000 individual gifts packed in shoeboxes destined for children in Uganda and the Sudan. The airlift is part of the relief effort Operation Christmas Child, which is headed by Graham (Associated Press, 12/10).
