Australia Contributes Additional $38M to Global Fund Over Three Years
Australia will contribute an additional $38.2 million to the Global Fund To Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria over the next three years, according to a Global Fund release. "Australia's increased contribution is particularly welcome in a year where we face extraordinary challenges," Global Fund Executive Director Richard Feachem said, adding, "To meet our current commitments, we will need $2.3 billion in 2005, $3.5 billion in 2006 and $3.6 billion in 2007. We strongly encourage other countries to follow Australia's example" (Global Fund release, 6/7).
