Covisint Partners With AT&T, Microsoft HealthVault To Create Secure Electronic Health Record Exchange Technology
Covisint -- a subsidiary of Compuware, a company that provides services for physicians and health care providers -- is partnering with AT&T and Microsoft to create a new type of information exchange that will allow physicians and patients to share health information, such as medical records, over a secure broadband connection, the Detroit News reports. Covisint will provide technology that will allow people using Microsoft's HealthVault, an online tool for storing medical information, to share their files with health care providers who use AT&T's Healthcare Community Online, which also has a network for storing and exchanging medical information online.Diane Turcan, AT&T's director of health care marketing, said, "Now, with a patient's permission, a physician can access information in (his or her) personal health record that could include everything from allergies to prescriptions to medical history" (Rogers, Detroit News, 6/24).
