The House is racing to find enough votes for its health-care bill this week, but even if it passes, prospects in the Senate have only darkened. More than enough Senate Republicans oppose the House bill to kill it -- with rival camps insisting on pulling the bill in opposite directions to meet their demands. The fate of the bill remains shaky in the Senate, where a number of Republicans have voiced strong concerns about its $880 billion in Medicaid spending cuts over 10 years and the projected increase in uninsured Americans by 24 million.
