Recent Scientific Progress In Developing New HIV/AIDS Interventions
Kaitlin Christenson, coalition director for the Global Health Technologies Coalition, "reflects on recent progress made by the scientific community in developing new interventions to combat HIV/AIDS as a result of leadership from the U.S. government" in this ONE blog post. She highlights promising research currently underway in the areas of microbicides, treatment as prevention, oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and HIV vaccines. Christenson concludes, "The U.S. government is a leading supporter for research that has yielded many of the innovations we have today, and this support must not waiver even in the midst of today's constrained budget environment" (11/17).
