Vatican to give $475,000 to Help Uganda’s AIDS Orphans
The Vatican announced Friday that it will give a $475,000 donation it received from the city of Milan to assist Ugandan AIDS orphans, Reuters reports. Archbishop Paul Cordes, head of the Vatican's charitable arm Cor Unum, said at a press conference that the Vatican "wanted to choose such a project ... to show that, with goodwill and some help, positive results can be achieved even in such an area [as Uganda]," where nearly 1.7 million people live with AIDS. He gave no further details about the project (Reuters, 2/9).
