Mathematica Policy Research Awarded HHS Grant to Study CHIP Program
New Jersey-based Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. announced March 14 that it has been awarded a three-year, $8 million contract from HHS to study the CHIP program. Mathematica will conduct both quantitative and qualitative analysis of the program in 10 states. Study questions will include CHIP's impact on low-income children, barriers to enrollment and the effectiveness of outreach efforts. Mathematica will issue "two major reports" this year and in 2003, along with interim reports. The Urban Institute and the MayaTech Corporation will serve as subcontractors on the study (Mathematica release, 3/14).
