Chip Kahn to Leave HIAA to Head Federation of American Hospitals
Chip Kahn is leaving his post as president of the Health Insurance Association of America to assume the job of president of the Federation of American Hospitals, HIAA said Friday (HIAA release, 5/25). Kahn will replace Thomas Scully, who was tapped by President Bush to head HCFA. Martin Rash, chair of the FAH board, said, "Chip Kahn brings to the federation a wealth of policy expertise, proven leadership skills and an incredible understanding of the workings of Washington" (FAH release, 5/25). Kahn has headed HIAA since January 1999. His resignation from HIAA will take effect after June 17, 2001; he will be replaced on an interim basis by the group's chief operating officer and medical director, Don Young (HIAA release, 5/25).
