Cincinnati Enquirer Profiles Minority Cancer Treatment, Support Services
The Cincinnati Enquirer yesterday featured Cancer Family Care, an agency that offers treatment and support services for cancer and other illnesses. The 30-year-old agency serves primarily minorities, particularly African Americans, and aims to provide community support for patients through individual counseling and "one-on-one" support services that match patients with similar backgrounds and medical concerns. In addition, the agency works through community organizations, such as the Revelation Baptist Church and the Urban League, to reach minority clients. Each year, agency employees counsel nearly 3,000 patients (Amos, Cincinnati Enquirer, 7/22).
