HHS Names Regional Representative for New England States
HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson on Sept. 6 announced the appointment of Massachusetts GOP Party Chair and state Rep. Brian Cresta (R) as the "secretary's direct representative" for Region 1, which covers Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. Cresta, who will assume responsibility for "guidance and coordination of HHS policies in the region" on Sept. 17, has served in the Massachusetts Legislature since 1994 and is a past ranking member of the Human Services and Elderly Affairs Committee (HHS release, 9/6).
