Auction of NBC’s ‘The Apprentice’, CBS’ ‘Survivor’ Props To Benefit Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation

Props from NBC's "The Apprentice" and CBS' "Survivor" will be auctioned on eBay, with the proceeds going to benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, the Arizona Republic reports. Mark Burnett, executive producer of both shows, donated the props after traveling to Africa for the third season of "Survivor" and seeing "firsthand" the problem of HIV/AIDS on the continent, according to the Republic. During the first season of "The Apprentice," contestants on the show arranged a Sotheby's auction of props to benefit the foundation. The props in the eBay auction include Planet Hollywood mini-basketballs singed by Kwame Jackson, runner-up on the first season of "The Apprentice"; smocks worn during the second season of "The Apprentice"; and camp supplies, torches and flags from "Survivor: Vanuatu -- Islands of Fire," according to the Republic (Arizona Republic, 12/22). Money raised from the auctions may be used to purchase antiretroviral drugs or for clinical research grants, the AP/Miami Herald reports. "From the perspective of the foundation, this offers incredible visibility for the importance of the issue," Glaser Foundation President Kate Carr said, adding, "People are combating AIDS with priceless gifts" (AP/Miami Herald, 12/20).
