CBO Announces Reform Will Cost Less Than $880 Billion Over Ten Years
Major health care reform will cost less than $880 billion over ten years, according to new analysis from the Congressional Budget Office.
The New York Times Prescriptions Blog reports on the new price tag for Senate negotiators. The Times also reports on a morning meeting with members of Senator Max Baucus's "bipartisan six" negotiating group where they discussed "hot-button topics including illegal immigrants, abortion and medical malpractice. They plan to meet again on Monday afternoon as Mr. Baucus, the Montana Democrat who is chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, pushes to complete a legislative proposal by the middle of this week" (Herszenhorn, 9/14).
