Baucus Tells Colleagues He Will Soon Present Health Bill
Montana Sen. Max Baucus, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, said "he would soon lay down a proposal for a sweeping overhaul of the nation's health care system," according to the New York Times.
Baucus, a Democrat, had a telephone conference call with a bipartisan group of committee members who have been working on the legislation, "according to an official familiar with the call."
According to the official, Baucus said he would present a formal chairman's mark as early as Saturday. The bipartisan group plans to meet Tuesday, when Congress reconvenes. (Hulse, Pear, 9/5)
