Report Examines Progress of Global Fund During Past Five Years
"Partners in Impact -- Results Report 2007," Global Fund To Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria: The report shows that to date, the lives of about 1.5 million people with AIDS, TB and malaria worldwide have been saved as a result of activities supported by the Global Fund. According to the report, lives are being saved at a rate of 3,000 daily as Global Fund partners continue to increase their operations. In addition, the report finds that 1.5 million AIDS and TB cases have been prevented because of Global Fund programs; 770,000 people with access to antiretroviral therapy will live an estimated total of 290,000 additional years; and 33 million malaria episodes have been prevented.
