As Expected, Little Global Health At G8: "Nothing of significance for global health came out of the G8 Summit" in Deauville, France, according to a post on the Global Health Council's "Blog 4 Global Health." The blog notes: "Of particular note was the very low profile of HIV/AIDS in contrast to past summits" (Olson, 5/31).
Program To Increase Corporate Volunteerism Abroad: USAID, IBM and CDC Development Solutions have partnered "to increase the number of employee volunteers at U.S.-based corporations by providing meaningful assistance to local governments, small businesses, and civic groups in emerging markets abroad," according to a USAID press release. The volunteers will provide service and advice to countries that want to improve health, education and other systems (5/31).
Video Aims To Highlight Models To Improve Access To HIV Care: Medecins sans Frontieres has a new video showing how task-shifting can reduce the pressure on HIV/AIDS services in the developing world. The video is part of series that is being released ahead of June's U.N. High Level Meeting on AIDS (5/27).
