CDF Announces Nationwide Launch of Student Outreach Program
The Children's Defense Fund has announced it will launch a program designed to encourage high school and college students nationwide to assist families in signing up for Medicaid and CHIP programs. The Student Health Outreach project, or SHOUT, will "lin[k] students to community-based outreach and enrollment efforts so they can learn about their state's health insurance programs." The program will also include a SHOUT listserv, which "will provide students and faculty across the country with a forum to exchange information about national and local SHOUT efforts." SHOUT originated in 1998 as a pilot collaboration between the Children's Defense Fund of New York and Columbia University. For more information on the program, call 202-628-8787, go to http://www.childrensdefense.org/shout.html, or send an e-mail to SHOUT@childrensdefense.org (Children's Defense Fund Child Health Information Project release, 2/16).
