Rutgers Receives $4.6 Million Grant for AIDS Research and Treatment Development
The NIH National Institute of General Medical Sciences on Tuesday announced that it will award Rutgers University more than $4.6 million over five years for four interrelated AIDS research projects, the Newark Star-Ledger reports (AP/Newark Star-Ledger, 11/13). Eddy Arnold, resident faculty member at the Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine and a Rutgers University professor of chemistry and chemical biology, will serve as project director for all four projects. The grant will allow Arnold and his colleagues to continue researching reverse transcriptase in order to develop new HIV treatments, according to Joseph Seneca, Rutgers' vice president for academic affairs (Rutgers University release, 11/12).
