Rory Kennedy’s AIDS Documentary To Be Unveiled in Boston

Documentary director Rory Kennedy, the daughter of the late Sen. Robert Kennedy (D-Mass.), tonight at the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum in Boston will unveil a new, five-part series of 30-minute documentary films that focus on people living with AIDS in Brazil, India, Russia, Thailand and Uganda, the Boston Globe reports. The documentary, titled "Pandemic: Facing AIDS," profiles a woman in Thailand who contracted HIV through sex work and examines issues such as how a Ugandan village is helping AIDS orphans, among other issues. Lawrence Kessler, founding director of the AIDS Action Committee, said that the film "speaks to a new generation who have become complacent about HIV and AIDS," according to the Globe. The series, which is narrated by musician Elton John, is scheduled to be shown on HBO next month (Grillo, Boston Globe, /18).
