Oman’s Malaria Eradication Program Is Example for Other Countries, WHO Says
Oman is a model for other countries aiming to successfully eradicate malaria, according to the World Health Organization, Gulf News reports. The agency is considering establishing Oman's Malaria Laboratory as a Regional Centre of Excellence in Malaria Microscopy. The center would support neighboring countries in laboratory diagnoses of malaria. WHO recently sent a team to Oman to assess the lab and make recommendations to the Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean Region and WHO headquarters in Geneva (Gulf News, 11/16).
