Democratic senators are urging President-elect Donald Trump to keep his campaign promise not to cut spending for Medicare and Medicaid. "During your campaign for President of the United States, you differentiated yourself from your 16 primary opponents by noting that you were the only Republican who would protect Medicare and Medicaid," the senators, led by Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Ron Wyden of Oregon, wrote in a letter to Trump. U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse were among a group of 21 senators who joined together Wednesday to confront President-elect Donald Trump over health-care policy, specifically Medicare and Medicaid. The group, which also includes Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, sent Trump a letter, reminding him of his campaign promises to reject cuts to both health-care entitlement programs.
