PBS’ ‘HealthWeek’ Examines Problems with the Individual Insurance Market
On the weekend of Sept. 22-Sept. 23, PBS' "HealthWeek" began airing a segment on the individual insurance market and the difficulties faced by the "16 million Americans who at some point have to buy health insurance on their own." The segment, produced in partnership with the Kaiser Family Foundation, discusses a June KFF report that demonstrated "people of all ages can face barriers to coverage." The segment, one of 12 resulting from Healthweek's partnership with KFF, also features an interview with Richard Sorian of Georgetown University's Institute for Health Care Research and Policy, one of the authors of the KFF report. Sorian discusses different options to make individual insurance more affordable. The KFF report is available online. A transcript of the segment also is available online.
