Bulgaria Launches Second Phase of HIV/AIDS-Prevention Campaign
The Bulgarian Health Ministry on Tuesday launched the second phase of a nationwide campaign to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS, Xinhua/People's Daily reports. The campaign includes no-cost anonymous testing at more than 10 universities in the country's largest cities, including the capital (Xinhua/People's Daily, 2/14). Bulgarian Red Cross volunteers were scheduled to distribute leaflets promoting the campaign (Sofia News Agency, 2/14). The campaign, which will run until 2008, also focuses on substance abusers, prisoners and other high-risk groups (Xinhua/People's Daily, 2/14). The first part of the campaign was launched on Dec. 1, 2005, to mark World AIDS Day (Sofia News Agency, 2/13).
