Liberty University appealed the dismissal of its lawsuit challenging the Obama administration's health care law to the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday. Mathew Staver, an attorney for the university and two individuals who sued, said a petition asking the justices to review the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals' ruling was electronically transmitted early Monday morning. He said he expects the court to decide whether to consider the case before it takes its December break (10/10).

A Virginia university is the latest party to request the Supreme Court step in and resolve the multifront legal brawl over the constitutionality of President Obama's health care overhaul. Liberty University, a private Christian university founded by the late Jerry Falwell, asked on Monday for the high court to review an appeals court's decision to dismiss its challenge of the law. The move comes after the Department of Justice and Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli each petitioned the Supreme Court to review the legality of the law.
