Brazil to Distribute Condoms to People Over 60
To stem the spread of HIV among citizens over 60, the Brazilian government will begin distributing condoms to "the rowdy geriatric crowd," Agence France-Presse reports. Data from the Brazilian Health Ministry indicate that 202 AIDS cases were diagnosed in people over 60 last year. Viagra and hormone therapies have helped prolong the sex lives of older Brazilians, but doctors, "failing to recognize the possibility" that their older patients are sexually active, have not thought to test them for HIV (Agence France-Presse, 9/7).
