Washington Post Examines Expansion of Food Charity for People Living With Life-Threatening Diseases, Including HIV/AIDS

The Washington Post on Sunday examined the expansion of a District of Columbia-based food charity that serves people with life-threatening diseases, including HIV/AIDS. Food & Friends -- which began operating in 1988 -- delivers hot meals and bags of nonperishable food items to people in the District and 14 counties in Maryland and Virginia. The group recently received $8.7 million in donations and has moved into a larger facility with an industrial-size kitchen and modern staff offices, according to the Post. Organizers hope to triple the number of prepared meals from 1,000 daily to 3,000 daily.
