Planned Parenthood To Request Emergency Injunction On Iowa Waiting-Period Law

Planned Parenthood of the Heartland President Suzanna di Baca says it is a medically unnecessary requirement that interrupts the lives of patients.

Iowa Public Radio: Planned Parenthood Launches Legal Attack Against New Law That Restricts Abortion Access In Iowa 

Tomorrow afternoon, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland and the ACLU of Iowa are asking a judge for an emergency injunction to stop a law that requires women wait 72-hour before receiving an abortion. The law is slated to go into effect Friday morning, unless the Polk County District Court intervenes. (Boden, 5/3)

Planned Parenthood, the reproductive rights organization targeted by conservatives for providing abortion services, is turning the tables and going after Rep. Martha McSally for seeking to cut off its federal funds. Citing polling it conducted last week, Planned Parenthood is running an ad in McSally's Tucson-based district, saying she supports defunding its services and wants to overturn former President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act, positions it claims are unpopular with residents there.
