Gov. Jan Brewer is making one more attempt to kill a lawsuit that challenges the expansion of the state's Medicaid program. Brewer and Tom Betlach, who oversees the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System, have asked the Arizona Supreme Court to review a state appeals court ruling from earlier this year that said three dozen lawmakers who opposed the expansion do have the authority to challenge it in court. Brewer and Betlach argue that the lawmakers lack legal standing (Rau, 5/14).

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has asked the Arizona Supreme Court to overturn a ruling that revived a lawsuit challenging her expansion of the state's Medicaid insurance plan for the poor. Brewer's lawyers filed the appeal Wednesday, arguing that the Arizona Court of Appeals ruling would open the door for lawmakers on the losing side of legislative fights over assessments or fees to rush to the courthouse (5/14).
