Boston to Receive $15.3M in Ryan White Funds
Boston will receive $15.3 million in Ryan White CARE Act funding, a $2.9 million (23.2%) increase over last year's funding, Mayor Thomas Menino, the Boston Public Health Commission, and Sen. Edward Kennedy (D) announced Friday. The Boston Herald reports that this year's funding represents the third largest increase in the country. Over 15,000 people living in the Boston area have HIV or AIDS (Szaniszlo, Boston Herald, 2/3).
