CLARIFICATION
A USA Today article covered in Thursday's Kaiser Daily HIV/AIDS Report on former ONAP Director Sandra Thurman stated that Thurman had signed an agreement with UNAIDS Executive Director Peter Piot to coordinate a fundraising campaign that aims to boost the United States' global AIDS spending (USA Today, 5/9). However, USA Today did not make it clear that the agreement was forged between UNAIDS and the International AIDS Trust, of which Thurman is the president, and not between Thurman -- as an individual -- and UNAIDS. IAT will act as the "American coordinating partner" in the campaign by working with Congress, the administration and other partners to "galvanize support" for global AIDS spending (IAT release, 5/9).
