U.S. Conference on AIDS Canceled; Reports on HIV in Adult Film Industry, Relationship Between Poverty, HIV/AIDS

2005 United States Conference on AIDS Canceled, National Minority AIDS Council: NMAC announced on Friday that it has canceled the 2005 USCA meeting that was scheduled to be held Sept. 29 through Oct. 2 in Houston because of the evacuation of the city due to Hurricane Rita. The meeting will not be rescheduled for this year. Information on receiving refunds for hotel and registration expenses is available online at nmac.org/conferences___trainings/usca/203.cfm. Next year's meeting is scheduled to take place Sept. 21-25, 2006, in Hollywood, Fla. (NMAC release, 9/23).
- "HIV Transmission in the Adult Film Industry -- Los Angeles, California, 2004," Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report: In this report, Harlan Rotblatt of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services and colleagues examine the spread of HIV in the heterosexual segment of Los Angeles' adult film industry and recommend that health and safety policies in the industry be reviewed and made to conform with Cal/OSHA standards (Rotblatt et al., Mortality and Morbidity Report, 9/23).
