Cleveland Clinic To Enter Agreement With MinuteClinic in Ohio
Cleveland Clinic on Friday announced plans to enter a multiyear partnership with MinuteClinic, which operates retail clinics in CVS Pharmacy stores, a move that makes the hospital the "latest health care provider to try to capture a piece of the rapidly growing retail clinic market," the Akron Beacon Journal reports. Under the agreement, Cleveland Clinic physicians will oversee nurse practitioners who work at nine retail clinics operated by MinuteClinic in northeast Ohio.In addition, Cleveland Clinic and MinuteClinic will link their electronic health record systems to allow staff at the retail clinics to access medical information for Cleveland Clinic patients who visit the facilities and share treatment information with their physicians. David Bronson, chair of the Medicine Institute at the Cleveland Clinic, said that, with the improved availability of medical information, "the quality of care improves" (Powell, Akron Beacon Journal, 2/13).
