North Carolina Health News: Medicaid Reform Plan Sent To Feds, Now The Negotiation Starts
On Wednesday afternoon, surrounded by lawmakers, doctors in white coats and emergency medical technicians in their dress uniforms, Gov. Pat McCrory signed off on a document — an application to federal regulators requesting an overhaul of North Carolina’s Medicaid program. "This is really a change for the better for North Carolina citizens across our state,” McCrory said as he introduced the plan. (Hoban, 6/3)
North Carolina Health News: How Is North Carolina’s Medicaid Program Doing This Year?
As Gov. Pat McCrory introduced North Carolina’s Medicaid reform plan Wednesday, he praised this year’s “$300 million surplus in the Medicaid budget made possible by Republican-led reforms that have gotten the chronically troubled program back on track.” ... In a program as large as Medicaid, a small change makes a big difference. Last year’s actual growth in enrollment was only 3.3 percent. That seemingly small difference added up to more than $107 million in savings. (Hoban, 6/3)
